Flipp set out to build a dynamic learning culture that supported individualized growth, encouraged collaboration, and strengthened managerial involvement in employee development, but three specific problems stood in the way. Tracking and administering learning budget requests was difficult; the company struggled to keep tabs on each employee's personal budget and development needs. Getting employees to actually share insights and recommendations with each other was a communication barrier of its own. And team learning was hard to acknowledge company-wide, especially in departments where a given skill wasn't central to the team's day-to-day work.
Career Journeys put a real learning and growth budget directly on the platform, giving employees the financial resources to pursue development opportunities and pick up new skills they're actually passionate about, not just what's assigned to them. Flipp Talks then gave that learning somewhere to go: an internal knowledge-sharing community where employees can share what they're learning, and where managers get visibility into all of it. That visibility does double duty, it lets managers support their team's growth directly and lets them recognize and reward the people putting in the work, instead of team learning happening invisibly, especially in departments where it doesn't sit at the center of the job.
